Do you want to be Finance Director of a SME within 2 to 3 years?

A rapidly growing owner managed business operating in the technology sector and based in Leeds city centre has a rare opportunity for an accountant to join as Finance Manager and quickly progress to Finance Director.

Currently a c£4million turnover business and consistently delivering around 20% year on year growth, this is an incredible business with an impressive client base. Headcount stands at 45 FTE and is forecast to double in the next 2 years.

The position of Finance Manager is an important appointment in the businesses lifecycle as it looks to crystallise its framework of financial control, establishing processes and procedures that facilitate and drive growth, whilst also providing commercial support and influence that maximises margin and profit

Your first weeks and months in the business will be spent getting into the finer detail and setting the foundations on which to build a high performing finance function. You will create a framework that gets the core elements of your remit working smoothly and frees your time for value added activity wherever you see the opportunity.

This is not an ivory tower role for strategic thinkers. You must be someone who is happy rolling their sleeves up, owning every aspect of a small business finance function from management accounts to credit control. As the business continues to grow you will pass the transactional elements of your role on to your team, shifting the balance of your attention to commercial and strategic concerns.

Duties of the Finance Manager will include:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and presentation to the Board
• Preparation of budgets and forecasts, including quarterly reforecasts
• Analysis and commentary on significant items and variances
• Documenting systems and controls and making recommendations for continuous improvement
• Ensuring all control accounts balance and bank accounts are fully reconciled
• Cash management, including credit control and cash flow forecasting
• Responsibility for all VAT matters
• Preparation of year end submissions and being the point of contact for external auditors
• Providing commercial support and analysis to the Directors and client services teams
• Ownership of the monthly Payroll process including reporting, compliance and payment of deductions and taxes

The profile of individual suited to the Finance Manager role will be a qualified accountant with ambition, energy and drive.

Its important that you can demonstrate a breadth of finance experience, and that you are comfortable challenging and influencing the Board and Senior Management Team.
